I'm willing to bet you have thousands of digital photos. From your phone to old and new photo sessions, like literally. Thousands. Me too (the screenshot above is just a portion of files from just one session this fall. So what do you do with all those digitals? If you said enjoy them on your computer I'm here to tell you, you are wrong. Listen, digital photos have their place: phone wallpapers, IG, digital frames (we'll get to that).

AND

If you leave this blog with nothing else, I want you to hear this: You have made an investment. You invested your money in an excellent *bows* photographer that specializes in their craft. You have invested your money in outfits that fit your location, time of year and flatter your family. You invested your time and energy in researching, preparing, and attending your session. And frankly that is all wasted if the art just lives on your computer forever.

Bring Your Photos to Life

Your photo sessions are usually planned around really important moments in life. Family milestones, a growing belly, a new baby, a graduation, anniversaries or holidays. These moments are special! Special enough that you wanted them captured to be remembered. And as easy as it is for digital files to end up just sitting on there, they deserve to be showcase beyond a computer screen!

Printing your photos has a powerful impact. I've talked before about why it's so important to print your photos, the emotional and personal impact of seeing your favorite moments in print. You can read all about that on this blog. But once you decide to print your photos, what do you do with them?

1. WALL ART: MAKE A STATEMENT IN YOUR HOME

A well placed framed photo makes me happy every time I walk by it and there are places all over your home that are perfect for showcasing your portraits. The family room is an obvious choice. I usually have a large photo hung above our fireplace and then sprinkle standing framed prints on shelfs or tables. Hallways are also a fun space to hang your art. The linear aspect of a hallway makes it perfect to hang photos in chronological order so as you walk down the hall your kids grow or get younger. Big empty walls in playrooms or offices are perfect spots for gallery walls.

There are so many options for wall art too. You can get them printed and framed, on canvases, and on standout metal prints. The variety adds dimension and interest to your gallery wall. Click here to see some of the options available through your gallery.

2. Albums: A Timeless Way to Tell Your Story

Print a few of your favorites, sure, but then what do you do with there rest? Albums are a perfect way to tell a story with your session and chronicle milestones in your family's life. You can create an album for every milestone from maternity to graduation! They are so fun to have out as decor on a coffee table, and also to flip through with your family.

3. Gifts: Thoughtful and Personal Ideas for the Holidays

The holidays are coming up so this really is the perfect time to start thinking about printing your photos. Turn those digitals into unique and meaningful gifts for loved ones. You can use my shop for custom photo albums and prints or wall art. And while I don't recommend them for high quality prints, other printing companies like Shutterfly offer unique gifts like magnets, coffee mugs or calendars!

4. Digital Frames

One creative ways to use those digital images and have them on display is by using a digital frame. One of my favorite digital frames is the Skylight Calendar. Not only does Skylight rotate images and have a modern display, it's a calendar that's fully integrated with your phone and you can forward emails to your skylight account to automatically add events. It's been a game changer for my family AND it's a modern way to display your photos.
