I gave myself a reading goal in 2024.

I've always been a reader. I generally have at least two books (one audio and one physical) going on at any given time. So I decided to try and read 40 books this year. Well I smashed that! Here's what I read, somewhat in order, in 2024:

I enjoyed her books Fourth Wing and Iron Flame so much I wanted to try out one of her non-fantasy books. I was not disappointed! A memorable meet-cute and good love story.

Also, you can preorder the third in the fantasy series, Onyx Storm now!

⭐️⭐️

While I really liked the first book I got less and less interested as the series went on.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A book club pick. I loved the thought problems behind this book. Lots of interesting socio-economic what ifs.

⭐️ + 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Not for me. I thought the plot was confusing and not really that compelling.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + 🌶️

I love Sarah J. Maas. This is probably my least favorite of her series, but it's a fun world and magic structure. The way the first book ends is bad ass.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just fantastic. Original, great characters, loved every minute.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was one of my book club's picks. I listened to it and highly recommend it because the voice actress is fab.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wasn't expecting it to feel a little YA, but once I got used to that I loved this book! A little mystery, a little Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a lot cute.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don't know why I put off reading this one for so long. It was magical.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + 🌶️🌶️

This was my first re-read of the year, but I heard that Crescent City 3 had an overlap with ACOTAR so I wanted to be fresh when it came out. If you haven't read these books, do.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

These books were cute. Felt like the past (printed newspapers and typewriters) with magic.

⭐️

Honestly don't remember much about this book...so...that's not a good sign.

⭐️

Don't really remember this one either...I guess I was in a reading slump at this point.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And we're back! Thriller, saw some of it coming but not most of it. Great!

⭐️ + 🌶️🌶️

Meh. Not my thing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very good. Handmaids Tale meets Hunger Games. Loved!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ +🌶️

Best series of the year! Full disclosure, I'm still in the middle of tandem reading Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn, but y'all. It's. So. Good.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good thriller, interesting idea, and not your average storyline.

⭐️

I got curious. It was bad and gave me the ick.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So so good. Funny dry wit and such a great story about chosen family.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thriller. Decent but I saw a lot of it coming.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I think I didn't like the reader for the audiobook and that put me off. I've heard this is a really great series so I plan to continue in 2025.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I've never read fan fiction before but this was amazing. It's been taken down because she has been picked up by a publisher to rewrite without all the Harry Potter world. I cannot wait.

⭐️⭐️

YA. Cute but I don't think I'll finish the series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ 🌶️

Romantic who done it historical fiction.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I hated the last Hilderbrand book I read but this was surprisingly cute.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is a judgment free zone, k? I loved them.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another book club pick. Amazing. Wonderful. Powerful. Educational. Read it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked this one, but DNF the next in the series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very interesting magic and a kind of thriller.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I feel like I ended this year well with this one. A little dark, but mostly funny. Great banter and a really witty writing style.

That's a grand total of 48 books! So what's exciting me for next year?

Onyx Storm
